For years, women and men have subjected themselves to painful, expensive and inadequate methods of hair removal. Today, laser hair removal is a more viable alternative to shaving, waxing and plucking than ever before. In fact, nearly 1.3 million Americans underwent laser hair removal in 2009 due to its proven safety and effectiveness.

Laser Hair Removal Process

Our laser hair removal treatment produces a large beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles (melanin). During the hair removal procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up. This significantly reduces the hair’s ability to re-grow, and results in permanent hair removal over time.

Because hair grows in phases, a series of treatments will be needed to remove the hair that subsequently enters the growth phase. Treatments are generally spaced 6-8 weeks apart to compensate for this.

Phases Of Laser Hair Removal

Following laser hair removal the treated area may appear slightly red, but this is usualy minimal and gone within a few hours. If you have tanned skin or have been exposed to a lot of sunlight, you may be asked to wait until the tan has subsided to begin treatment. Additionally, the treated area must be shaved close to the skin immediately prior to treatment. Six weeks prior to treatment, patients are told not to use hair removal products such as gels and waxes.
